Marion Forsman Boushie Early Learning Center,
Suquamish Tribe, WA
The Suquamish Tribe in Washington hired CDC to develop a landscape design for their new early learning center. The design concept incorporates the tribe's history and unity into an educational environment surrounding the center.
Design of the children's play areas allow creative learning about nature in the form of a water source, cobble stream, sand pit with hidden fossils and animal prints within the concrete, and a wooded glen. Ties to the tribal culture are highlighted by a traditional canoe, a longhouse structure, and an elder story circle.
