Muckleshoot Childcare Facility
Muckleshoot Tribe, WA
This unique daycare facility provides outdoor learning environments for children ranging from infants to 12 year olds. The site and building were designed to serve 300 children, making it one of the largest childcare facilities in the country.
Working closely with the tribe, CDC created complex outdoor classrooms and play areas that encourage exploration, creative thought, emotional and physical development. The site was developed to support the cultural base of the tribe through the inclusion of historically significant plants, images of important animals, tribal cosmology and linguistics, and symbolic landscape features.
