Park Lane Wins APA’s Great Streets Award

Park Lane Wins Great Streets Award

: We at Cascade Design Collaborative (CDC) are thrilled to receive the American Planning Association (APA) “Great Streets Award” for our design and planning work on Park Lane in Kirkland WA. It is an honor to receive this award in the 10th year of APA’s Great Streets Award program. Park Lane is one of five streets across the USA to receive this 2017 Award.

The award shines a light on this public space, created through a truly collaborative planning and design process by CDC, Perteet (engineers), EnviroIssues (community outreach), City of Kirkland planners, and almost all of the businesses along Park Lane. The businesses had great trust in us, as we performed the total reconstruction of their street, in the hope we would create a truly great public space.

The Great Street Award is about much more than good engineering and urban design. This award requires a demonstrated success in the areas of equity and social justice programs, improved business environment, and sustainable design practices. The design also took an existing outdoor arts program and expanded it into excellence.

Please join us and the City of Kirkland for a celebration of the award at the Art Walk, this Friday, October 13th, 5-8pm.
