Marysville Getchell High School
Marysville, WA

The 2011 McConnell Award-winning school is composed of a series of separate buildings carefully sited on terraces throughout the wooded site to preserve the character of the natural environment.  The entry sequence to the school draws visitors through the forest and across a wooden bridge threshold into the heart of the campus. Pervious pavement, rain gardens, and native plantings serve as educational demonstrations of ways to reduce the impact of the school on its surroundings.
